quiet is ramping up to kick-off its 2010-2011 season and we want to celebrate it with all of you. Come check out a night of community and art as we raise friends and funds for our up-coming season and community partnerships!

There will be a special prize for the person who brings the most friends.

Featuring the music of Drypoint and Sebastian Sheldon.

What to expect:

• Brief overview of quiet’s Vision/Mission
• Current Projects – Pick-Up Artist: The Musical rehearsals will be happening in the room next door, so we will take a sneak peek.
• Involvement – summer ad-hoc committees are done and now you have the chance to change committees, to re-up your commitment or to be a part of a quiet project. There are 5 ad-hoc committees and 3 projects for the fall season. Specifics will be discussed at this event.

Dessert and coffee will be provided. Bring a friend!

The submission deadline is October 1, 2010. Applicants whose projects are chosen to move on to the next stage in the approval process will be notified by October 10, 2010.

There is a great arts organization here in Seattle called “The Heroes”. In the words of Tony Tiger, “They’re GRRRREAT”! We have the privilege of partnering with The Heroes this up-coming spring, but in the meantime, they are putting on a great event called “Versus: The Fashion of Conflict Resolution”. You should check it out.

quiet Shorts is an arts journal that exhibits a collection of voices – poems, essays, short stories, memoirs, reviews, lyrics, photographs, drawings, paintings and other forms best suited for the page. By placing our voices next to each other, quiet Shorts aims to provide a context for dialogue, a place for education, and a seed for motivation.



Submissions for the Spring 2011 issue must be submitted by Monday, January 10^th, 2011. quiet Shorts is published quarterly; next issue released online and in hard copy form on Friday, March 11^th, 2011.

Set amidst the whiskey sipping chauvinism of early 1960, quiet’s production of The Taming of the Shrew continues our season-long exploration of gender through Shakespeare’s classic comedy.
